1.    Assess the problem, and use online tools (or the library) to determine a repair strategy.  Try jmroz.com/help.htm

3.    Make sure you have the right tools for the job available.  See Amazon's tools section; a tool kit and meter are good starters.
4.    Wear protective equipment if required.  Protect your eyes with safety glasses.
5.    Do your best and ask others for help if needed.
